Get the kind you put in the oven to rejuvenate. I bought mine at knob creek.

Any hobby store. Silicon gel for drying flowers...

now rice is something I have tons of. I am assuming this is the one where you take a gym sock or a smaller one and fill it full of rice tie the end off and just lay it in the ammobox??

I see restaurants use rice to keep the salt from clumping.

If you need to go cheap, go to Wally Mart and "borrow" some from the shoe dept. most of the shoe boxes have desiccant in them. This is very important, do not eat them!  For the record I didn't say it was a good idea, just an idea.

How much you need?   I get it at work, and have been stocking up so as to be ready for my ammo cans (5 gal metal buckets with a rubber sealed lid). Also a perk. They just throw them away. I recycle, everything don't you know. I' be more than happy to share.

I have lots of it in the little "Do not eat" packets, if that is of interest to anyone.

I can’t get GOOBs of it but enough for what I want. It comes in fist sized bags packed in some of the parts we get. My question is can any of it be brought back to life, drying it out in an oven or dose that only work on a special kind?

I always save those little packets when I get them in a package with something else. I could always use more, I like to keep a few in my gun cabinets with my long guns.
I wish I could find some more of those larger packets, but I don't even remember what they came in?
If anybody has more than they can handle, I'd be happy to pay shipping if you don't mind sharing?
Thanks

Using basic chemistry I don't see why you couldn't, when we need to rejuvenate the dessicant in the drying cabinets at work we just put it in the oven for 90 min at 225. Since it is water the dessicant is soaking up it makes sence that it would be liberated when the material is heated to above the boiling point of water but that assumes that the container will stand up to that heat.

Titty cat cat litter sewed in packets from an old t-shirt. I got this idea from a craft search for dried flowers. Make sure you seal the case or box your dry because it will absorb moisture from air.by the way I dont own a cat but if you do dont use used kitty litter. grin
