44 magnum

Ok guys here is my delima. While I have gotten the swaging part of my 44's down to where I like the profile and the nose, here comes the weight issue. Here is my problem. I am still relativly new to reloading. So far, everything I have loaded for my rifles and handguns were for the stated weight from the book. Now, going off the books, I have no idea about. I have different weights in my swaging. The load I want to load for using Unique, is for a swaged bullet, with a 40 case for the jacket coming in at 256 grains. What I can find is like 200, 240, 250 and 300. Now the Nosler book does not show using just uniqu and my kids hid my other books from me
How do I go about figuring out what my starting load is and what max not to go past. I am wanting to shoot these sunday. Sunday will not be a load developing day as I am going to be spending most of the time getting my Grendel on course. What I want to do, is just be able to shoot these to see how they do. I still have to get the sites fixed so load developing would not be a good thing.
Appreciate all and any help..

Hey DW,
My speer manual lists the 240 GDHP using Unique. Starting charge of 9.2, max 10.3, COL 1.575"
My lee manual lists a 265gr jacketed using Unique. Starting charge of 8.4, Max 9.3, COL 1.620"
I would start with the 265gr data and work up...you will prolly end up with a max at about 10gr.
Using Quick load and a COL of 1.620"...the max looks like 9.8gr...that's using a 256gr bullet with a bullet length of .860"(guess) at .429" diameter.
A .760" length bullet seated to an OAL of 1.560" still comes out to 9.8gr max(35844psi)
QL is showing about 1236fps out of a 8" barrel

No worries spud, thanks for trying tho bud. Appreciate the effort.
Hawcer, thanks for the info!! Appreciate that. Through elimination, and speaking with XbonesX last night, we was thinking of going with 240 grain infor from Hornady and starting out at 9 grains. Also decided, use unique for plinking but thinking about going with a diffferent powder to hunt with so that I have enough foot pounds of energy to take down a whitetail.

Now one other note, being that I have tons of large pistol primers, I kinda want to stick using just large pistol primers so that I do not have to run outand purchase large pistol magnum primers. Eventually one day I will tho LOL...
Thanks again

If you can't find the load for the weight of the bullet you are using, use the next heaviest bullet weight for starting load not the lighter bullet weight load.
